WORKSHOP 1 - Sadhana: Cultivating a spiritual practice in the Modern World

In the Yoga Sutras, Patanjali gives us three essential components to Sadhana that address issues arising in the body, mind and spirit. Using the Sutras as a guide, we will see how these ancient techniques are related to current practices of yoga.

WORKSHOP 2 - Handstands Begin in Primary Series

Leaning to balance on your hands begins right from the first sun-salutation. If you want to start to build up the strength through the arms and core to practice handstands, the foundations are found right in the postures of primary series, starting with every Vinyasa – learning to jump back and jump through.

WORKSHOP 3 - Strengthening the Connection to Bandhas - Primary Series

Mula Bandha and Uddiyana Bandha are important keys to the asana practice. This Primary Series class will bring focus to what these "energetic locks" really are and how they can be used to create a greater sense of lightness, balance, and ease of movement. Learn to cultivate a deeper understanding and awareness of bandhas in your practice.

WORKSHOP 4 - The Myth of Back Bending: Fundamentals for a Pain-Free Backbend

We will look at what is Yoga Chikitsa & Nadi Shodana and how we can purify our energy channels.
What kinds of physical & psychological preparations do we need to do to prepare for Intermediate Series.

We will explore some back-bending enhancements: looking at the principles of opening the heart, being vulnerable, and the importance to cultivate great strength in the foundation of our lives (and legs).

Mysore Style is the heart of Ashtanga Yoga. In the Mysore method, students are met as individuals. Each person is taught progressively according to his or her readiness. This can be a very transformative experience for students who are open to exploring their inner-self using the asana as a tool for this discovery.

BIO
Harmony Slater first journeyed to Mysore in 2004 to study with the Jois family. She first received Authorization to teach this method in 2006, directly from Sri. K Pattabhi Jois, and nine years later received Certification from Sharath Jois. She is one less than 20 women in the world to hold this honor.
Harmony is a strong presence in the Ashtanga community worldwide. She founded two Yoga Schools in Canada, and in addition to her teaching, she has shared her experiences with the practice, pregnancy and childbirth in the books: Yoga Sadhana for Mothers and Strength and Grace: A collection of Essays by Women of Ashtanga Yoga. She has a wealth of knowledge to offer students, and openly shares her insights about experiencing the full integration of Ashtanga Yoga during her workshops.
