Uma primeira, da qual fazem parte nomes como Lawrence Weiner, Anthony McCall, Matt Mullican, que tiveram um importante papel na emergência e desenvolvimento da arte conceptual e pós-conceptual nas décadas de 1960 e 1970, aos quais se juntam, Allan Sekula que contribuiu fortemente para a reinvenção do documentário; e uma segunda, que junta um conjunto de artistas, como Jonathan Monk, a dupla Detanico e Lain, Adelina Lopes e Max Frey, que têm desenvolvido um trabalho assente no legado conceptual da primeira. A presente mostra parte de uma das “cosmologias” de Matt Mullican e propõe um percurso por uma série de propostas artísticas que, com recurso a diferentes media, pesquisam e questionam o real, as problemáticas ligadas à percepção da realidade, bem como, à sua interpretação ou representação através da análise de sistemas de conhecimento, significado e linguagem. Na sua maioria, as obras em exposição exigem uma participação activa por parte do observador. The exhibition establishes a dialogue between the works of two different generations. The first includes names such as Lawrence Weiner, Anthony McCall, and Matt Mullican, essential artists in the rise and advance of conceptual and post-conceptual art in the 1960s and 1970s, and also Allan Sekula, who greatly contributed to the reinvention of documentary. The second is represented by a selection of artists, such as Jonathan Monk, the duo Detanico and Lain, Adelina Lopes, and Max Frey, who have developed work based on the conceptual legacy of the first generation. With one of Matt Mullican’s “cosmologies” as its starting point, the present show suggests a journey through several artistic proposals that, using different media, probe and question the real, the problems inherent to the perception of reality, as well as its interpretation and representation through the analysis of knowledge, language, and signifying systems.
