Nascida no Peru e sediada em Nova Iorque, Chavez tem revelado uma dedicação e visão inabaláveis nessa demanda, traduzida em inúmeros workshops, no livro TECHNIQUE: Chance Procedures on Table, performance e em dj sets - sendo nestes últimos registos que celebramos esta sua visita. The Peru-born, New York-based sound artist's openness to chance and accident absorb and transform the assumptions of failure and rejection. As well as being a Goldsmiths research fellow and author of the book OF TECHNIQUE: Chance Procedures on Turntable, Chaves leads innumerable workshops on her craft and as a DJ has shared the stage with the likes of Demdike Stare, Regis and Powell. We are excited to have her on the decks at BRAVE after her performance. Traumas of loss, oppression or institutional racism are no abstract themes to Soraya Lutangu, aka Bonaventure, who started producing music after a death occurred in her family. Her club-ready creations, which are informed by violence as well as care take on non-linear, sample-heavy and politically forceful formats, with enduring traces of noise, rave and human empowerment. Supported by the incredible NON Worldwide label and community, Soraya is also a regular on Berlin Community Radio and NTS. Her latest album –‘Free Lutangu’, out on PTP – is a collection of tracks that stomp through an astonishing and danceable worldview, which will be presented live and exclusively at BRAVE. Bookending BRAVE with two originally selected sets, Carolina – associated with labels such as LABAREDA and Extended Records as well as with Rádio Quântica via her transcendental monthly show String Theory – takes an uninhibited approach to the decks, with a seasoned flow fuelled by audacity and a sense of exploration. Lethô’s sets encompass deep house, acid, techno and more, with her sets displaying ample generosity towards her crowd. It’s going to get wild.
