Título: Unzipping Immutability Abstract: If you have ever wondered what’s the buzz about immutable data structures and how they can be implemented and used sensibly, this talk is for you! We’ll take advantage of interactive visualizations and see several immutable data structures in action. Having surfaced immutability’s crucial tricks, we’ll move our focus to lenses and zippers — handy tools that combine the convenience of the “mutable world” with the expressiveness of functional programming. Short Bio: Nick is a FCUL graduate of 2014 with background in computer science and human-computer interaction. His past projects include RouteStory — an app for location-based storytelling; and Macroid — a modular functional domain-specific language for creating Android user interfaces. Nick is currently fighting financial fraud with machine learning at Feedzai. His interests include functional programming, usability and data visualization.
