O Porto Femme e o MIRA FORUM voltam a ser parceiros nesta 7ª edição do Festival Internacional de Cinema que se realiza no Porto, de 16 a 21 de abril de 2024.
Lançamos em conjunto uma open call de fotografia dirigida a artistas que se identifiquem como mulheres e pessoas não-binárias, subordinada ao tema “margens”! Recebemos muitas fotografias de grande qualidade estética.
As fotografias selecionadas integram a exposição que inaugura no dia 6 de abril, pelas 16h, no MIRA FORUM.
MARGENS
A revolução acontece quando as margens ocupam o centro. As margens acontecem nas sombras, crescem fora das visibilidades e operam ocultas até se tornarem luz e centro.
As leituras podem ser feitas do centro para as margens ou das margens para o centro. Não existem caminhos errados, ambos se validam de acordo com o sentido que queremos dar. Nas margens existirá uma multidão, no centro poucos, talvez aqueles que exercem o poder e as margens assim estão à margem dos poderes, ao ocuparem o centro, ocupam o poder, as nossas antes silenciadas fazem-se ouvir, as luzes descobrem os invisíveis.
Também podemos falar de margens que oprimem, ou as margens que sustem os rios, as águas que assim são controladas para não inundar. São imensos os campos, os olhares, as interpretações. Questionamos qual a minha margem, qual a tua margem. A outra margem parece sempre distante, um outro campo de existência que desconhecemos ou queremos alcançar.
Sejamos margem, sejamos centro, sejamos a revolução que queremos ser e ver!

PORTO FEMME | International Film Festival
O Porto Femme é um festival de cinema que pretende exibir e divulgar o trabalho das mulheres e pessoas não binárias na sétima arte, promovendo a igualdade e o empoderamento destas no universo cinematográfico. Através da exibição de filmes pretende-se educar e informar o público para as questões sociais e políticas que afetam as mulheres e pessoas não binárias no mundo e dar voz aos feminismos, procurando abranger os vários grupos e lutas. Procura agir como um espaço de visibilidade para mulheres e pessoas não binárias cineastas de todo o mundo e apresenta um programa diversificado com sessões competitivas de cinema, mostras temáticas, debates, exposições, concertos, workshops, entre outros. Pretende ser um ponto de partilha, debate e criação para todos aqueles que amam o cinema. É um evento que coloca anualmente o Porto e Portugal no mapa dos festivais de cinema de mulheres. Todos os anos são submetidos filmes provenientes de todo o mundo. Em 6 edições de festival tivemos em competição mais de 669 filmes! O festival encontra-se a preparar aquela que é a sua 7ª Edição, que irá acontecer em abril de 2024.

Opening of the exhibition "MARGINS" | PORTO FEMME & MIRA FORUM
The Porto Femme and MIRA FORUM are partnering once again for the 7th edition of the International Film Festival, taking place in Porto from April 16th to 21st, 2024. Together, we launched an open call for photography aimed at artists who identify as women and non-binary individuals, centered around the theme "margins"! We received many photographs of great aesthetic quality. The selected photographs will be part of the exhibition opening on April 6th at 4 p.m. at MIRA FORUM.
The revolution happens when the margins occupy the center. The margins occur in the shadows, grow outside of visibility, and operate hidden until they become light and center.
Readings can be made from the center to the margins or from the margins to the center. There are no wrong paths; both are validated according to the meaning we want to convey. In the margins, there will be a multitude; in the center, few, perhaps those who wield power, and the margins thus remain on the sidelines of power; by occupying the center, they occupy power, our previously silenced voices are heard, and the lights reveal the invisible.
We can also talk about margins that oppress, or margins that sustain rivers, controlling the waters to prevent flooding. There are vast fields, perspectives, interpretations. We question what my margin is, what your margin is. The other margin always seems distant, another field of existence that we either don't know or want to reach.
Let us be margin, let us be center, let us be the revolution we want to be and see!

PORTO FEMME | International Film Festival
Porto Femme is a film festival aimed at showcasing and promoting the work of women and non-binary individuals in the seventh art, promoting equality and empowerment within the cinematic universe. Through film screenings, the aim is to educate and inform the public about social and political issues affecting women and non-binary individuals worldwide and to give voice to feminisms, seeking to encompass various groups and struggles. It seeks to act as a space of visibility for women and non-binary filmmakers from around the world and presents a diverse program including competitive film sessions, thematic showcases, debates, exhibitions, concerts, workshops, among others. It aims to be a point of sharing, debate, and creation for all those who love cinema. It is an event that annually puts Porto and Portugal on the map of women's film festivals. Every year, films from all over the world are submitted. In 6 festival editions, we had over 669 films in competition! The festival is currently preparing for its 7th Edition, which will take place in April 2024.
