3 Hand Stephen é indissociável da figura singular de Stephen Cohen, artista visual e multi-instrumentista que apresenta na Zaratan o resultado da sua residência artística. Nesta ocasião, Cohen propõe uma performance participativa que convoca a ideia de liberdade e que dá seguimento às questões que nortearam o seu trabalho: investigar como se desenrolaram os processos revolucionários em Portugal e quais as consequências que daí resultaram. Partindo dessas premissas, o artista faz uso da música e da performance para evocar um horizonte de continuidade histórica que, nos dias de hoje, se torna imperativo preservar e reinterpretar.  
A apresentação de 3 Hand Stephen assenta num repertório de canções originais onde a voz e a percussão se fundem com uma instrumentação diversificada e pouco convencional. Em palco, Stephen Cohen utiliza a guitarra elétrica a par de uma cigar box guitar e de uma guitarra miniatura única no seu género. O espetáculo destaca-se ainda pela sua vertente interativa, contando com momentos de participação do público.
BIOGRAFIA: 3 HAND STEPHEN é um músico, compositor e artista visual radicado nos EUA, conhecido pela criação de instrumentos e esculturas musicais artesanais que definem a sua sonoridade única. Desde o lançamento de «The Tree People» em 1979 — obra que atingiu reconhecimento internacional após reedições recentes na Europa e Ásia — Stephen tem explorado as fronteiras entre o folk, o experimentalismo e a poesia. O seu currículo inclui álbuns premiados pela NPR e uma vasta atividade expositiva em galerias de arte contemporânea. Em 2021, publicou «Baggy Red Pants and Other Stories», consolidando a sua voz como autor, seguindo-se o lançamento de «THE TREE PEOPLE LIVE» em 2025, um registo que captura a essência eclética e psicadélica das suas performances ao vivo.

3 Hand Stephen is inseparable from the singular figure of Stephen Cohen, a visual artist and multi-instrumentalist who presents the results of his artistic residency at Zaratan. On this occasion, Cohen proposes a participatory performance that invokes the idea of freedom and follows up on the questions that have guided his work: investigating the unfolding of revolutionary processes in Portugal and the consequences that resulted from them. Based on these premises, the artist uses music and performance to evoke a horizon of historical continuity that remains imperative to preserve and reinterpret today. 
The performance of 3 Hand Stephen is built upon a repertoire of original songs where voice and percussion merge with a diverse and unconventional range of instruments. On stage, Stephen Cohen uses the electric guitar alongside a cigar box guitar and a one-of-a-kind miniature guitar. The show is further distinguished by its interactive nature, featuring moments of audience participation that integrate the public into the performance’s sonic and conceptual landscape.
