PT_ O Female Eye Film Festival (FeFF) – “Sempre honesto, nem sempre bonito” – foi fundado pela premiada cineasta independente Leslie Ann Coles em 2001. FeFF é um festival de cinema independente competitivo anual que oferece uma vitrine exclusiva para mulheres cineastas canadianas e internacionais. Ele presta homenagem aos melhores e mais criativos do cinema independente e serve para preencher a lacuna entre as artes da escrita, visual e de mídia com leituras de roteiros, sessões de pitch, workshops, painéis, autógrafos e a nossa exposição anual de fotos.
Além do festival, a FeFF realiza o Young Filmmaker Development Workshop (YFDW), um programa de orientação para cineastas estreantes. Até o momento, o FeFF produziu 46 curtas-metragens experimentais envolvendo mulheres e meninas dos 13 aos 25 anos. Vinte e seis foram diretores indígenas de estreia; todos estrearam no FeFF. Em 2014, FeFF começou a curadoria de programas de filmes canadianos para festivais irmãos no exterior: Los Angeles Women's International Film Festival (Estados Unidos), Flying Broom (Turquia), KIN International Film Festival (Armênia), FemCine (Chile), o Beirut International Women Film Festival (Líbano), e em 2022 apresentaremos uma seleção de curtas-metragens canadianas no Porto Femme (Portugal).
A revista MovieMaker elegeu o FeFF como um dos “Cinquenta melhores festivais de cinema do mundo que valem a taxa de inscrição” pelo 10º ano consecutivo em 2022.
O FeFF comemorou a sua edição de 20º aniversário de 9 a 12 de junho de 2022, no TIFF Bell Lightbox em Toronto.

Sinopse Uma mulher piloto da Woman Airforce Service, de 80 anos, lembra-se da sua tentativa audaciosa de lutar pelo status militar e por uma bandeira ser colocada no caixão do seu colega piloto perto do final da Segunda Guerra Mundial. Depois de voar um coletivo de 60 milhões de milhas em serviço com 1078 outras mulheres pilotos entre 1942-1944 num programa de treinamento especializado projetado para libertar os pilotos masculinos para a batalha, ela e a Última Classe Perdida do Campo Avenger são abruptamente dissolvidas, envergonhadas por aceitar os empregos de homens, negado o status militar e são obrigadas a pagar o próprio caminho para casa.

Sinopse O irmão e irmã Jacob e Raina fazem um passeio de inverno para fora da cidade, trazendo com eles uma misteriosa caixa de papelão. A sua jornada traz de volta memórias da sua falecida mãe e termina numa praia congelada, onde devem aceitar o trauma da sua história compartilhada.
EN_ The Female Eye Film Festival (FeFF) – “Always honest, not always pretty” – was founded by award winning independent filmmaker, Leslie Ann Coles in 2001. FeFF is an annual competitive independent film festival that provides an exclusive showcase for Canadian and international women filmmakers. It pays tribute to the best and most creative in independent film and serves to bridge the gap between the written, visual, and media arts with script readings, pitch sessions, workshops, panels, book signings, and our annual photo exhibit.
In addition to the festival, FeFF runs the Young Filmmaker Development Workshop (YFDW), a mentorship program for debut filmmakers. To date, FeFF has produced 46 short experimental films involving women and girls aged 13 to 25. Twenty-six were debut Indigenous directors; all premiered at FeFF. In 2014, FeFF began curating Canadian film programs for sister festivals abroad: Los Angeles Women’s International Film Festival (United States), Flying Broom (Turkey), KIN International Film Festival (Armenia), FemCine (Chile), the Beirut International Women Film Festival (Lebanon), and in 2022 we’ll present a selection of short Canadian films at Porto Femme (Portugal).
MovieMaker magazine voted FeFF one of the “World’s Top Fifty Film Festivals Worth the Entry Fee” for the 10th consecutive year in 2022.

Synopsis An 80-year-old Woman Airforce Service Pilot remembers her audacious attempt to fight for military status and for a flag to be placed on her fellow pilot’s coffin near the end of WWII. After flying a collective 60 million miles in service with 1078 other women pilots between 1942-1944 in a specialized training program designed to free the male pilots for battle, she and the Lost Last Class of Avenger Field are abruptly disbanded, shamed for taking the jobs of men, denied military status and forced to pay their own way home.
