ISLAND LIFE is a first solo exhibition by emerging artist Marija Reikalas. While presenting her exhibition the artist will invite to another edition of her Linocut workshop. The Linocut workshop will happen Sunday, 23nd of August from 5 - 8pm at Prisma. The art of Marija Reikalas involves printmaking (linocut,silkscreen print), illustration and painting (murals and canvas). Inspired by the night in the equatorial forest, she is known for her gravure-like painting stroke and dreamy, poetic visualisation of life on the tropical island. Linocut Workshop will introduce you to the basics and history of this magnificent printmaking technique. It will take 3 hours with a cake & tea break. The participants will go through the printing process themselves accompanied by a professional in every step, experiencing the process and learning the technique together with useful tips, tricks and shortcuts, gathered by the artist through the years of practice. All materials are included, you bring your creativity, ideas and willingness to learn something completely new. Marija Reikalas has been hosting workshops for 2 years now and they always have that easy, informal, Sunday afternoon feeling, which is more like a get-together of friends than a lesson. Children (min 8 years, due to the sharp objects we will be using) are welcome with their parents. However, due to the current situation caused by Covid-19 the number of participants is limited and we'll have to stay with masks on for the entire workshop time. Inspirada pela noite na floresta equatorial, Marija Reikalas é conhecida pela sua visualização poética e sonhadora da vida na ilha tropical. O Workshop de linogravura vai introduzir-vos nos passos básicos e na história desta magnífica técnica de gravura. O workshop demora 3 horas com uma pausa. Os participantes vão passar pelo processo de impressão, acompanhados por Marija Reikalas em todas as etapas, experimentando o processo e aprendendo a técnica, com dicas, truques e atalhos úteis, reunidos pela artista ao longo dos anos de prática. Todos os materiais estão incluídos, os participantes têm só trazer a sua criatividade, ideias e vontade de aprender algo completamente novo. Marija Reikalas realiza os workshops há 2 anos com o ar informal da tarde de domingo, que parece mais um encontro de amigos do que uma lição. Crianças (mínimo de 8 anos, devido aos objetos pontiagudos que usaremos) são bem-vindas com os seus pais.
