Amendoeira means "almond tree," and accordingly, Joana Amendoeira's voice grew taller and branched out more broadly when she won the contest "Grande Noite do Fado do Porto" at the age of 12. Throughout her career she has sung in the best casas de fado, where she absorbed the art of the fadistas of old. Meanwhile, she has already has released eight albums, she has participated in several fado compilations - but she remains rooted in a brilliant live performance that must be heard to be believed.

No one is prepared for that first entry into this subterranean space hidden beneath the Jardim do Principe Real. Is it a scene from a film? A millenarian hideout? A door to another dimension? All of these answers are correct, and it’s also a water reservoir, originally linked to the Aqueduto das Aguas Livres, with 31 pillars supporting vaults and providing the perfect magic for music.

Ao longo da sua carreira cantou nas melhores casas de fado onde absorveu a arte dos fadistas d’outrora. Entretanto já tem oito discos editados, várias participações em compilações de fado e uma destreza ao vivo que merece ser comprovada.
