Nos últimos anos, as culturas online têm sido sujeitas a uma polarização e radicalização crescentes, influenciadas por numerosos atores e amplificadas pelas próprias características das redes sociais, omnipresentes no quotidiano. Do Twitter ao Facebook, passando por redes como o Instagram, o Reddit ou o 4chan, um dos subprodutos das guerras culturais online é a excessiva politização das discussões, produtos e práticas na Internet.
Online Culture Wars é um mapa que faz uma sobreposição de centenas de memes politizados, juntamente com figuras e símbolos políticos influentes, histórica e contemporaneamente. Esta cartografia oferece uma representação das fricções ideológicas e políticas que se encontram online, integrando-as no sistema visual de um meme Political Compass (bússola política), também ele produto do universo da Web. Sob a forma de um poster de grandes dimensões, este mapa foi concebido como ponto de partida para um debate, com o objetivo de permitir visualizar e contextualizar as guerras culturais em curso na Internet.
Obra realizada em 2019 a partir de uma residência artística EMAP – European Media Art Platform no M-Cult, em Helsínquia (Finlândia).
http://Disnovation.org/ é um coletivo de investigação criado em Paris em 2012, cujos membros incluem Maria Roszkowska, Nicolas Maigret, Baruch Gottlieb e Jerome Saint-Clair. Trabalham na interface entre a arte contemporânea, a investigação e o hacking. Para cada projecto, reúnem equipas específicas, que incluem académicos, ativistas, engenheiros e designers. As suas mais recentes provocações artísticas procuram potenciar imaginários e práticas pós-crescimento, desafiando simultaneamente as ideologias tecno-solucionistas dominantes. A sua investigação inclui obras de arte, publicações e curadoria.
O trabalho de http://Disnovation.org/ tem sido apresentado internacionalmente em instituições como o Centre Pompidou (Paris, França), Transmediale (Berlim, Alemanha), Museum of Art and Design (Nova Iorque, EUA), ou Chaos Computer Congress (Hamburgo, Alemanha).

In recent years, online cultures have become increasingly polarised and radicalised, influenced by numerous actors, and amplified by the very features of ubiquitous social networks. From Twitter to Facebook, Instagram, Reddit or 4chan, one of the by-products of online culture wars is the over-politicisation of discussions, products and practices on the internet.Online Culture Wars is a map that overlays hundreds of politicised memes, along with influential political figures and symbols, both historical and contemporary. This cartography offers a representation of online ideological and political frictions, integrated into the visual system of a Political Compass meme, which is yet another product of the online universe.
In the form of a large poster, the map is designed as a discussion starter, intended to visualise and contextualise the ongoing online culture wars. This work was developed in 2019 as part of a European Media Art Platform (EMAP) residency at M-Cult in Helsinki (Finland).
http://Disnovation.org/ is a research collective founded in Paris in 2012 by Maria Roszkowska, Nicolas Maigret, Baruch Gottlieb and Jerome Saint-Clair. They work at the interface between contemporary art, research and hacking. For each project, they bring together a specific team made of academics, activists, engineers and designers.
Their recent artistic provocations seek to empower post-growth imaginaries and practices while challenging dominant techno-solutionist ideologies.
