|| ENG || Lume Portugal brings you “Baú: 16 - 21” by Kadri Balde, a compilation of the best pieces of a 5 year body of work! With mixed techniques that range from the use of spray cans to sharpies on panini futebol stamps, Kadri show us his versatility, asserting himself as a figure to keep an eye on, in the contemporary art scene in Lisbon. **Vernissage 18th June - 5 pm * • • • Kadri Balde - @paulo_porta • • • Kadry was born on 7/7/1967. He learned engraving and silkscreen at the António Arroio Artistic School and Illustration and Comics at Ar.Co. Three days later he threw himself at a running taxi and won 50€ as indemnity. He can’t leave his house without a book that fits in his pocket, a notebook and a pen to record car license plates. It is in this relationship between the human body and the hood of a car that he finds inspiration for his unique characters and comic stories of unusual environments. He seeks, through his work, to reflect on his experiences and survivals, pursuing to give unusual answers to his introspections. For this exhibition, Kadri brings us a set of loose works and parts of projects that vary between prints, original BD boards, paintings on football cards, among others. A selection of works that he says were resurrected from his lost trunk (in portuguese: baú) thanks to the discovery of a highway with no speed limit near a taxi rank. • • • SCHEDULE • • • • 18-06...... 17 - 21h .......... Tirou gravura e serigrafia na Escola Artística António Arroio e Ilustração e BD no Ar.Co. Três dias depois atirou-se para cima de um táxi em andamento e ganhou 50€ de indemnização. Não sai de casa sem um livro que caiba no bolso, um caderno e uma caneta para anotar matrículas. É nesta relação entre o corpo humano e o capot de um carro que encontra inspiração paras as suas personagens singulares e histórias cómicas de ambientes insólitos. Procura, através do seu trabalho, reflectir sobre as suas experiências e sobrevivências procurando dar respostas invulgares às suas introspecções. Para esta exposição, Kadri traz-nos um conjunto de trabalhos soltos e partes de projectos que variam entre gravuras, pranchas de BD originais, pinturas sobre cromos de futebol entre outros.
