Biografia | Frank Arroni Ntaluma
Nasceu em Nanhagaia, distrito de Nangade, província de Cabo Delgado, Moçambique, a 25 de Agosto do último ano da década de 60, num Sábado com o calor do planalto, onde os homens se assustaram com as gargalhadas das parteiras tradicionais Makondes.
Iniciou o seu trabalho de transmitir a sua palavra através da madeira em 1990, no Museu de Etnologia de Nampula, onde recebeu os segredos da escultura tradicional makonde do seu Mestre Crisanto Bartolomeu Ambelicola.
Em 1992 chega a Maputo onde, com um grupo de amigos, funda a “Favana Grupo de Escultores Makonde”, no parque de campismo, onde começa a formar muitos moçambicanos e estrangeiros.
No ano de 2000 vai para a A.S.E.M.A. – Associação de Escultores Makonde, no Museu Nacional de Arte de Maputo.
Chega a Portugal em 2002 onde trabalha “ Moçambique kultural”, enquanto desenvolve com outros artistas um intercâmbio de sensibilidades materializada numa série de pequenos projetos e eventos culturais.
Em 2003 assume a responsabilidade da escola de escultura da A.L.D.C.I. – Portugal, integrada na escola da multiculturalidade. No mesmo ano forma-se em Gravura, Xilogravura e Litogravura na cooperativa dos Gravadores Portugueses, em Lisboa.
Entre 2005-7 estuda e trabalha na Escola Profissional de Artes e Ofícios Tradicionais da Batalha, recebendo aulas de cantaria.
Está representado no Museu Nacional de Arte de Maputo, no ISARC – Instituto Superior de Arte e Cultura (Maputo), na UNESCO ANDORRA e em coleções particulares espalhadas pelos quatro cantos do mundo.
Frank Arroni Ntaluma | Biography
Born in Nanhagaia, district of Nangade, region of Cabo Delgado - Mozambique, on the 25th of August of the last year of the 60’s, on a Saturday with the heat of the upland, where the men were frightened with the laughter of the midwives Makonde.
Began his work of passing his word through wood in 1990, at the Museum of Ethnology in Nampula, where he learned the secrets of traditional Makonde sculpture which were provided by his Master Crisanto Bartholomew Ambelicola.
In 1992 arrives to Maputo, where, with a group of friends, he founded the” Favana Makonde sculptors Group", and it is at the campsite, where he begins to form many Mozambicans and foreigners.
In the year 2000 he joins A.S.E.M.A. - Makonde Sculptors Association, at the National Art Museum of Maputo.
Frank arrives in Portugal in 2002 where he dedicates himself to "Mozambique kultural" whilst developing with other artists a trade and exchange of embodied sensibilities in a series of small projects and cultural events.
In the year of 2003 he assumes responsibility at the school of sculpture ALDCI - Portugal, which is integrated in the multicultural program. In the same year he graduates in engraving, woodcut and lithography at the Portuguese Cooperative of Engravers in Lisbon.
From the year 2005 to 2007 he has studied and worked in the Professional School of Traditional Arts and Crafts of Batalha, he then had lessons of stonework.
He is represented in the National Art Museum of Maputo, in ISARC (Superior Institute of Art and Culture -Maputo), in UNESCO ANDORRA and also in private collections scattered to the four corners of the world.
