The Last Poet”, exposição individual de Joana Escoval, no dia 12 de fevereiro, quarta-feira, às 19h00, com ENTRADA LIVRE. Estão todos convidados! Joana Escoval tem vindo a estabelecer na sua prática artística uma relação extremamente idiossincrática com a natureza. Nos seus trabalhos, tudo está prestes a desaparecer ou a transformar-se em algo diferente, num cosmos onde a energia existe em constante fluxo e os elementos naturais se interligam na sua esmagadora incomensurabilidade. Em "Mutações. The Last Poet", Joana Escoval trabalha o próprio espaço expositivo como meio. Trata-se de uma instalação que transforma a arquitetura do espaço da galeria num contínuo de curvas orgânicas, solicitando uma deambulação na qual o encontro com esculturas, vídeos e outros elementos se encadeia numa narrativa poética. As questões associadas às relações entre as substâncias, o corpo e o mundo são exploradas através das metáforas produzidas por estes dispositivos, que dissipam qualquer linha divisória entre o humano e o não-humano e remetem para as relações da matéria um efetivo trabalho poético. Curadoria de Pedro Lapa. Joana Escoval nasceu em Lisboa em 1982. Estudou Pintura na Faculdade de Belas-Artes da Universidade de Lisboa e na Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze. Viveu na Madeira, em Florença e em Berlim. Foi distinguida na edição de 2012 do Prémio BES Revelação, e foi bolseira da Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian e da Fundação Luso-Americana para o Desenvolvimento em 2013. A sua prática artística tem vindo a estabelecer uma relação extremamente idiossincrática com a natureza. A energia existe em constante fluxo, e os elementos naturais interligam-se. A incomensurabilidade do cosmos é esmagadora. Nos seus trabalhos, tudo está prestes a desaparecer ou a transformar-se em algo diferente. The Last Poet”, on 12 February, Wednesday, at 7 p.m., with FREE ADMISSION. Everyone’s invited! The artistic practice of Joana Escoval has established an extremely idiosyncratic relationship with nature. In her works, everything is about to disappear or transform into something different—a cosmos where energy is in constant flux and natural elements are interconnected in its overwhelming incommensurability. Joana Escoval regards the very exhibition space of Mutações. The Last Poet as a medium. She presents an installation that transforms the gallery's architecture into a continuum of organic curves through which one will wander, coming across sculptures, videos, and other elements connected within a poetic narrative. Questions associated with the relationships between substances, the body, and the world are explored through the metaphors produced by these devices, dissipating any divisive line between the human and the non-human and charging the relationships of matter with an effective poetic work.
