About the instructor
Joao Afonso is an experienced entrepreneur having created several companies in the past few years. He won the Building Global Innovators, an idea competition co-organized by the MIT, in 2012 with a prize of €200k in funding, which allowed to launch is first company, Musikki. He also won the National Award for the Creative Industries (2013) and the Business Internationalization Award (2015) attributed by the British Government, besides two second places on Samsung’s Creativity Award (2011, 2012).
After Musikki, he spent one year at Startup Portugal and recently launched two new companies: Gig Club, a subscription service for live music; and Artbeat, a new creative hub located in the heart of Porto.
He has raised €1.7M in VC funding for his companies.
