Zaratan AIR | Open Studio BEA ACEVEDO "On The Verges Of A Feeling Thing" ABERTO | 28-29 Novembro 2019, das 16h00 às 20h00 A Zaratan tem o prazer de convidar para a inauguração de “On The Verges Of A Feeling Thing”, uma exposição relâmpago de Bea Acevedo, artista em residência na Zaratan, cuja prática artística alicerça-se alicerça-se na relação entre materialidade e subjectividade. De que forma o nosso contacto quotidiano com os materiais e sua integração literal ou metafórica afecta a percepção de nós mesmos, do relacionamento com os outros e o meio ambiente? Com isso em mente, a artista utiliza materiais de nosso ambiente construído/sintético para referenciar o corpo e o orgânico, geralmente através de objectos de carácter fragmentário que dependem um do outro e do espaço envolvente. Esses objectos móveis e intercambiáveis colocam na espera e na pesquisa, construindo uma paisagem própria, onde o espectador se torna um objecto entre eles, e desencadeia-se desta forma um questionamento sobre a natureza desse encontro. Para esta residência na Zaratan, toma-se como ponto de partida o relacionamento entre corporalidade e metrópole, conforme descrito por Elisabeth Grosz no ensaio ‘Bodies-Cities’. Explorando a “pele” da cidade na sua materialidade ornamental, Beatriz Acevedo investiga a porosidade e a troca entre peles inorgânicas e orgânicas, cada uma carregada com a sua história. BIO: BEATRIZ ACEVEDO nasceu em Espanha e actualmente vive e trabalha em Londres. Formou-se no Programas de Belas Artes da Goldsmiths University em Londres (2016) e na East London University (2013). Projectos recentes incluem "Moil Eden" (2019) e "O que está esperando?", 2018 na ASC Unit 3 Project Space, Londres. http://www.beaacevedo.com/ [English Version] Zaratan AIR | Open Studio BEA ACEVEDO “On The Verges Of A Feeling Thing” OPEN | 28-29 of November 2019, from 4PM to 8PM Zaratan is glad to invite for the opening of “On The Verges Of A Feeling Thing”, a flash exhibition by Bea Acevedo, artist-in-residency at Zaratan AIR, which presents a new body of works including sculpture, text and video. The artistic practice of Bea Acevedo reflects on the relationship between materiality and subjectivity. How does our everyday contact with materials and their literal or metaphorical integration impact the perception of ourselves, the relationship with others and the environment? With this in mind she make use of materials of our constructed/synthetic environment to reference the bodily and the organic, usually through objects of fragmentary character that become reliant on each other and the space. These unfixed and exchangeable objects pose in wait and search, they construct a landscape of their own where the viewer becomes an object amongst them, aiming to trigger and question the nature of this encounter. For this residency at Zaratan she took as point of departure the relationship between corporeality and metropolis as outlined by Elisabeth Grosz in her essay ‘Bodies-Cities’. Exploring the skin of the city in its ornamental materiality, Bea Acevedo is reflecting on the porosity and exchange of inorganic and organic skin, each one with its loaded history.
