Mutante #87 Señor Pelota + John Player Special

Mutante é a festa que acontece mensalmente no Lounge em Lisboa. Organizado por Señor Pelota, um DJ experiente que coleciona, seleciona e compartilha discos há mais de 20 anos. 

Para esta sessão o convidado é João Gomes da Costa, conhecido na musica como John Player Special. O que tem de ecléctico tem de experiente, são já duas décadas a cruzar discos. 
Purista do Vinyl e sobre géneros assume sem vergonha a musica urbana contemporânea como seu habita natural.

John Player Special (a.k.a. João Gomes da Costa) was born in 1979. In the last 20 years, he has built a dj career that spans practically all major Portuguese clubs and music festivals like Lux Frágil, Café Au Lait, Plano B, Lisb-On, Rock in Rio, Out Jazz Festival among many others.

In a digital age, he remained faithful to the analog days and his vinyl record collection is an impressive homage to the best soul, funk, hiphop and jazz of the 20th century. His journey through the vaults of the most creative and respected labels of the past laid the ground for his sophisticated taste. He plays contemporary urban music ranging from breakbeat, hiphop and soul, crossing freely through genres and epochs adding rhythms from the early rock'n'roll period, latin and afrobeat tracks, jazz and blues classics, obscure soundtrack shakers or exquisite Brazilian gems.

As a producer, John Player Special released a track in the Lyfers Vol. 3 compilation by the Portuguese label 1980 Records and his currently working on new material. Stay tuned!
