Cláudio Garrudo abre a programação de 2018 da Travessa da Ermida dia 6 de janeiro pelas 18h com a exposição LUZ CEGA que ficará patente até 21 de fevereiro. Desde logo “Luz Cega” interpela-nos sobre se é a luz que nos cega ou se cegos ficamos pela luz, o que, podendo ser uma redundância, não o é pelo sentido subjacente a este mais recente trabalho de Cláudio Garrudo. A sua diferença está no sujeito da acção e na intenção que a suporta. Será, então, a luz, a fé, a crença que nos torna cegos, ou, em outra perspectiva, somos nós mesmos que nos deixamos cegar pela azafáma e imediatismo deste nosso tempo. Esta é a dialética que Cláudio Garrudo sugere a partir destas imagens, um projecto “site-specific”, pensado no significado e na religiosidade desta ermida, lugar de culto, outrora religioso. O culto, esse, poder-se-á dizer assume agora outras acepções, como por exemplo o dar lugar à reflexão sobre o mundo contemporâneo e as circunstâncias que nos rodeiam. A voracidade com que tudo acontece em muito se aproxima dos 8.3 minutos que a luz demora a percorrer a distância do Sol à Terra, e ainda assim ensejamos “ver a luz”, e, amiúde, insistimos cegamente, porque sem pensar, nessa procura, não dando tempo, não sabendo esperar pelo tempo, esse que se pode ganhar, ao invés de se perder. O véu diáfano que tem percorrido a obra de Cláudio Garrudo surge, aqui, através da luminosidade seja no conteúdo desta exposição, seja no seu aspecto formal, ao recorrer ao clássico e vagaroso processo de revelação por raios de luz ultra-violeta. Espaço e tempo juntam-se, portanto, nesta “LUZ CEGA”, o espaço para a reflexão que simboliza os templos, religiosos ou artísticos, e o tempo que deveríamos cada vez mais reclamar para dizer que não queremos ficar nem ser cegos no nosso pensamento e lucidez. Sobre Cláudio Garrudo Fotógrafo, produtor cultural e pai, actividades a que se dedica de alma e coração. Dizem-lhe que nasceu em Lisboa em 1976, mas não se lembra. Já expôs individualmente em Portugal, Espanha, República Checa, Eslováquia e Roménia, participou em feiras de arte em Miami, Nova Iorque e Madrid, ganhou o primeiro prémio da VII edição da Bienal de Coruche e editou diversos livros de fotografia. É representado pela Galeria das Salgadeiras em Lisboa e artista convidado da H’art Gallery (Bucharest). Organizador do Bairro das Artes e do Mapa das Artes, membro da direção da associação Isto não é um cachimbo, consultor da INCM e coordenador editorial da Série PH (colecção de livros de fotografia). O seu trabalho artístico assenta na influência do cruzamento de diferentes territórios como a pintura, a música ou a literatura. From the first beginning “Luz Cega” (Blind Light) asks us if it is the light blinding us or if we are blinded by the light, what being a redundancy, it isn’t so due to the underlying sense of this most recent work of Cláudio Garrudo. The difference is in the action subject and the intention in it. Can it be the light, faith or belief blinding us or, seeing it from another perspective, do we let ourselves be blinded by the bustle and immediacy of our times. This dialectic is what Cláudio Garrudo suggests through these images, a site-specific project thought in the significance and religiosity of this hermitage, a once religious cult place. It can be said that cult undertakes other meanings nowadays giving place to reflexion on the contemporary world and the circumstances around us for example. The voracity with which everything happens is very close to the 8.3 minutes the light takes to go from the Sun to Earth, and still, we wish to “see the light”, and, often, we insist in it blindly, because we don’t think, in that search, we don’t give it time, we don’t know how to wait for time, that time that can be won instead of getting lost. The diaphanous veil on Cláudio Garrudo’s work appears, here, through the luminosity so much in the content of this exhibition as in its formal aspect, when he uses the classical and slow UV light revealing process. Space and time get together, therefore, in this “LUZ CEGA” (Blind Light), the space for reflexion which symbolizes the religious or artistic temples, and the time we should more and more claim to state we don’t want to become or be blind in our thought and sobriety. About Cláudio Garrudo Photographer, cultural producer and father, activities he dedicates himself to from the heart and soul. He has been told he was born in 1976 but he doesn’t remember. Has exhibited individually in Portugal, Spain, Check Republic, Slovakia and Romania, participated in art fairs in Miami, NY and Madrid, won the first prize of the 7th edition of Coruche’s Biennale, Portugal and edited several photography books. He is represented by Salgadeiras Gallery in Lisbon and invited artist of H’art Gallery (Bucharest). He organizes “Bairro das Artes” and “Mapa das Artes”, is one direction member of the association “Isto não é um cachimbo”, consultant of INCM and editorial coordinator of “Série PH” (photography books collection). His artistic work lays on the crossing influence of different territories such as painting, music or literature. From the formal point of view there is always a sort of diaphanous veil present in his images as an identity trait of his work.
