As Buffalo Springfield sang (in a very different context), "There's somethin' happening here / What it is, ain't exactly clear..."

There's something in the air. It tastes of salt and spice and dark sugar. It feels like a crackling energy, so acute we sometimes imagine that the unflammable oxygen itself might spark before our eyes. It smells like the sea and the soil of the whole world, like metal and smoke, like the sweat of dancing bodies. It curdles and rolls, like a thousand languages spoken at once, a tower of Babel unfurled throughout the streets of our city.  

And that sound, that sound... This thing that's happening sounds like a voice, pointed and piercing as a bell but sweet, sweet, pulling us out of our distractions, calling our dispersed awareness to a single point of focus. Calling our attention, calling us together, calling us: DO NOT MISS THIS. Whatever this is, this thing that's happening, we want to be able to say we were really, really there. We were in it. We lived it, 100%. 

Maybe it has to do with the autumnal equinox? 

Maybe the brilliant Mayra Andrade knows.
