In our previous sessions we have hosted musicians and musical styles from Spain, France, Italy, Brazil, Guinea-Bissau, Nigeria, Cabo Verde, Cuba, Canada, Peru and the United States (not even counting all of the hybrids, creoles, "mutts" and mixtures). This month we break new ground: we head east for the first time, all the way to India. Or rather, we bring a little bit of India all the way to the living room in Lisbon. Literally. This will be the first time that one of these musicians sets foot in Europe, and he comes just for us. Tarun Kumar Chattopadhyay and Stephen Bull will play classical ragas from north India in the khyal tradition, and the term khyal translates roughly to "frolicsome imagination." Perhaps this gives us an idea what to expect... ...but better yet, perhaps, to leave our expectations at the door, and enter the living room with our hearts, minds, and spirits wide open. It will be the perfect way to cool down, chill out, let go, lean in, and go with the flow. Early summer. Late afternoon. Ripe with possibilities. This event is already sold out.
