Funchal City Sessions #5 - Violeta Azevedo

A 5.ª edição das Funchal City Sessions apresenta Violeta Azevedo, artista sonora que oscila entre a composição e a improvisação com a sua flauta transversal.

A sua música é criada num universo denso e detalhado onde transforma organismos únicos através de processos alquímicos, recorrendo a uma orquestra de electrónica. Partindo da flauta transversal como um invulgar ponto de partida para a criação sonora, constrói uma complexa orquestra de pedais através da qual molda e lapida timbres, dando forma a paisagens sonoras belas e abstratas, evocativas de diferentes momentos e linguagens do ambient.

Nos últimos anos, tem vindo a colaborar com um vasto leque de músicos portugueses

ligados à vanguarda, apresentando o seu trabalho em algumas das mais relevantes instituições da música experimental em Portugal, como a Culturgest, o MAAT e o gnration.

Originalmente concebidas como uma extensão do Festival MADEIRADiG, as Funchal City Sessions assentam na captação, formação e desenvolvimento de novos públicos para a fruição das Artes Digitais.

ENGLISH VERSION

The 5th edition of the Funchal City Sessions presents Violeta Azevedo, a sound artist who moves between composition and improvisation with her transverse flute.

Her music is created within a dense and detailed universe, where she transforms unique organisms through alchemical processes, drawing on an orchestra of electronics. Using the transverse flute as an unusual starting point for sound creation, she builds a complex pedal-based orchestra through which she shapes and refines timbres, giving form to beautiful and abstract soundscapes that evoke different moments and languages of ambient music.

In recent years, she has collaborated with a wide range of Portuguese musicians connected to the avant-garde, presenting her work at some of the most relevant experimental music institutions in Portugal, such as Culturgest, MAAT, and gnration.

Originally conceived as an extension of the MADEIRADiG Festival, the Funchal City Sessions focus on the engagement, education, and development of new audiences for the appreciation of Digital Arts.
