I’m liy — a name born from “limerence in you”
The word limerence has always captivated me. There’s something strangely beautiful in that gentle obsession, that uncontrollable pull toward feeling. I chose the name liy partly for its simplicity, but also for its quiet echo of “lie” — a reminder of the truths I once hid from myself.
On October 31st, I released my debut EP, “in between places.”
Written and recorded between late-night silences, bus rides, and fleeting moments of clarity, its three tracks — “in mourning,” “in 10 years,” and “in thoughts” — capture the weight of overthinking, longing, and becoming someone new.
This is a space where I can finally express myself freely and collaborate with other artists. Born and raised in Porto, I started writing and composing as a teenager, trying to make sense of life and of myself.
liy is my refuge — a dream born in my teenage years that only found its voice in adulthood. And through liy, the dream is having more shapes.PT
liy — um nome que nasceu de “limerence in you”.
A palavra limerence sempre me fascinou. Há algo estranhamente belo nessa obsessão suave, nessa atracção incontrolável pelo sentimento. Escolhi o nome liy em parte pela sua simplicidade, mas também pelo seu eco silencioso de “lie” (mentira) — uma lembrança das verdades que um dia escondi de mim mesma.
A 31 de outubro, lancei meu EP de estreia, “in between places”.
Escrito e gravado entre silêncios noturnos, viagens de autocarro e momentos fugazes de lucidez, as suas três canções — “in mourning”, “in 10 years” e “in thoughts” — capturam o peso de pensar demais, ansiar e de se tornar alguém novo.
Este é um espaço onde finalmente me posso expressar livremente e colaborar com outros artistas. Nascida e criada no Porto, comecei a escrever e compor na adolescência, tentando dar sentido à vida e a mim mesma.
liy é o meu refúgio — um sonho nascido na adolescência que só encontrou a sua voz na vida adulta. E através de liy, o sonho está a ganhar mais formas.
