A Associação Música XXI (Faro) em parceria com a Ideias do Levante – Associação Cultural de Lagoa (Algarve) e com o apoio do Município de Lagoa (Algarve) e da Paróquia de Nossa Senhora da Luz (Lagoa, Algarve) irá apresentar um concerto da responsabilidade do organista Afonso Torres e da soprano Carla Pontes, no dia 2 de Novembro de 2025, às 18:00, na Igreja de Matriz de Lagoa (Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Luz), no Concelho de Lagoa (Algarve), inserido no XVIII Festival Internacional de Órgão do Algarve.

Após a conclusão do restauro do grande Órgão da Sé de Faro em 2006, instrumento histórico de importância internacionalmente reconhecida, a Associação Música XXI tomou em mãos a organização do I Festival de Órgão, que teve lugar em 2007. Desde então, o evento passou a realizar-se anualmente durante o mês de novembro, nas Igrejas da Sé e do Carmo, em Faro. Com adesão de público crescente ao longo dos anos, a organização tem sabido dar o devido destaque à apresentação das capacidades dos instrumentos através do talento dos organistas participantes. O sucesso do evento tem motivado a Associação Música XXI a persistir na sua organização e, a partir de 2016, o Festival de Órgão estendeu-se a outros locais do Algarve com órgãos de tubos em condições de serem tocados em público, como é o caso de Tavira (Igrejas da Misericórdia e de Santiago), Boliqueime/Loulé (Igreja Paroquial) e Portimão (Igreja Matriz). Em 2024, o festival estendeu-se até Lagoa (Igreja Matriz) tendo o seu órgão de tubos sido restaurado recentemente. Natural de Paredes, Afonso Torres iniciou o seu percurso no piano e órgão com professores como Marco Oliveira, Joana Moreira e Rui Soares. Aos 15 anos, ingressou no Conservatório do Porto, sob a orientação de Paulo Alvim, prosseguindo a sua formação superior em órgão na Universidade HfMT de Hamburgo com Wolfgang Zerer. Em 2023, aprofundou o repertório organístico francês em Toulouse com Yoann Tardivel e Michel Bouvard. O seu talento foi reconhecido em 2021, ao conquistar o segundo prêmio no XV Concurso Internacional Gottfried-Silbermann, em Freiberg, Alemanha, após o qual atuou em festivais de prestígio como o Bachfest Leipzig e Heinrich-Schütz-Musikfest.
 
Carla Pontes, lisboeta, licenciou-se em ensino artístico, exercendo a atividade docente de 1999 a 2015. Em 2003 ingressou na AMLagos, como aluna da professora Birgit Wegemann. Frequentou diversos workshops, cursos, aulas e masterclasses, destacando-se o Curso Internacional de Música Vocal da Universidade de Aveiro; o Curso de Estill Voice - CF for Voice Control I; o estágio do Festival Internacional de Saint- Bertrand de Cumminges, sob a orientação da consagrada Guillemette Laurens; o I Festival Voz de Mulher, em 2007, trabalhando o canto tradicional português, com o grupo Segue-me à Capela; canto sefardita e dos Balcãs, com Judith Cohen e canto contemporâneo e de exploração, com Meredith Monk. Trabalhou com Jorge Parente, alfabeto do corpo de Zygmunt Molik; Sandra Sofiati (Brasil), bioenergética/corposonoro; Victor Turull (Barcelona), curso BioVoz; Prathibba (Índia), sessão de Voicing e Alexander Technique com Isobel Andersen e Roberto Reveilleu. Realizou workshops de Somatic Voice/LoVetri, “Soul Voice”/Karina Schelde e “Voice Healing”/Jill Purce. Com Jacky Peeters (Holanda), experienciou a metodologia Soul Voice e Voice Liberation, a qual passou a acompanhar, como assistente nos seus retiros, em Portugal e Espanha. É pós-graduada em ArteTerapia e Waking Dream Therapy, e formou-se como vocal coach em Modern Vocal Training e Vocal Health First Aider. Dá aulas e sessões particulares de técnica, exploração e libertação vocal, bem como workshops de voz como veículo de auto-conhecimento. Criou diversos projectos, no âmbito da música clássica/crossover, como o projeto OperaRocks. The Associação Música XXI (Faro) in partnership with Ideias do Levante – Associação Cultural de Lagoa (Algarve) and with the support of the Municipality of Lagoa (Algarve) and the Parish of Nossa Senhora da Luz (Lagoa, Algarve) will present a concert by organist Afonso Torres and soprano Carla Pontes, on November 2, 2025, at 6:00 pm, at the Igreja de Matriz de Lagoa (Church of Nossa Senhora da Luz), in the Municipality of Lagoa (Algarve), as part of the 18th Algarve International Organ Festival.

After the restoration of the great Organ of the Cathedral of Faro in 2006, a historical instrument of internationally recognised importance, the Associação Música XXI took over the organisation of the 1st Organ Festival, which took place in 2007. Since then, the event has been held annually during the month of November, at the Sé and Carmo Churches, in Faro. With an increasing number of audience over the years, the organization has been able to give due prominence to the presentation of the instruments' capabilities through the talent of the participating organists. The success of the event has motivated Associação Música XXI to persist in its organization and, since 2016, the Organ Festival has been extended to other locations in the Algarve with pipe organs that are fit to be played in public, such as Tavira (Churches of Misericórdia and Santiago), Boliqueime/Loulé (Parish Church) and Portimão (Main Church). In 2024, the festival was extended to Lagoa (Main Church), with its pipe organ having recently been restored. A native of Paredes, Afonso Torres began his piano and organ career with teachers such as Marco Oliveira, Joana Moreira, and Rui Soares. At the age of 15, he entered the Porto Conservatory under the guidance of Paulo Alvim, continuing his organ training at the HfMT University in Hamburg with Wolfgang Zerer. In 2023, he deepened his knowledge of the French organ repertoire in Toulouse with Yoann Tardivel and Michel Bouvard. His talent was recognized in 2021 when he won second prize at the 15th International Gottfried-Silbermann Competition in Freiberg, Germany, after which he performed at prestigious festivals such as Bachfest Leipzig and Heinrich-Schütz-Musikfest.
 
Carla Pontes, a Lisbon native, graduated in Art Education and taught from 1999 to 2015. In 2003, she joined AMLagos (Academic Association of Musicians and Adolescents) as a student of Professor Birgit Wegemann. She has attended numerous workshops, courses, classes, and masterclasses, including the International Vocal Music Course at the University of Aveiro; the Estill Voice Course (CF for Voice Control I); an internship at the Saint-Bertrand de Cumminges International Festival, under the guidance of the renowned Guillemette Laurens; and the 1st Women's Voice Festival in 2007, where she worked on traditional Portuguese singing with the group Segue-me à Capela; Sephardic and Balkan singing with Judith Cohen; and contemporary and exploratory singing with Meredith Monk. She has worked with Jorge Parente, Zygmunt Molik's body alphabet; Sandra Sofiati (Brazil), bioenergetics/soundbody; Victor Turull (Barcelona), BioVoz course; Prathibba (India) participated in Voicing and Alexander Technique sessions with Isobel Andersen and Roberto Reveilleu. She has also attended workshops in Somatic Voice/LoVetri, Soul Voice/Karina Schelde, and Voice Healing/Jill Purce. With Jacky Peeters (Netherlands), she experienced the Soul Voice and Voice Liberation methodology, which she now supports as an assistant on her retreats in Portugal and Spain. She holds postgraduate degrees in Art Therapy and Waking Dream Therapy and trained as a vocal coach in Modern Vocal Training and Vocal Health First Aid. She teaches and offers private sessions on vocal technique, exploration, and liberation, as well as voice workshops as a vehicle for self-discovery. She has created several projects in the classical/crossover music field, such as the OperaRocks project.
