Come join us at bi-weekly read-and-act gatherings on our journey of deconstructing misogyny, learning to make better choices and take proactive actions when witnessing acts of misogyny. Our primary aim is to empower men on their journey of changing their behavior, with the tools of empathy and proactive care. This said, the space is open to persons of any identity and background, once they share our vision and goals. On the menu: - Deconstructing misogyny in ourselves by unlearning to make choices that hurt women around us - Improving our empathy by better understanding the experience of people raised as women and their everyday-life context - Learning to better care for women around us - Learning from our guests and influencers who have experienced life as females - Learning non-violent ways to interfere when we witness misogyny - For male-presenting guests – learning to leverage our social privilege to promote pro-femenist standpoint and to affect others’ choices. - Deconstructing toxicity in male-to-male interactions, unlearning to condition men to hurt women and each other. So far, we envision the format as: - Reading, watching movies, talking to guests - Reflecting, discussing - Coming up with new ways of acting in our life, prcaticing, and discussing our practice - Supporting men on this re-learning journey Promoting the Porto local community The Pro-Feminist Action space is accessible for free, without obligatory contributions. It felt to me very practical and instrumental, and I started using its insights in my community work even while I was still reading it.
