RESSONÂNCIA #50 (!) // Fake Music for Travellers + Gama Reis

Next Friday we celebrate the 50th ( ! ) edition of RESSONÂNCIA: a series of intimate live shows, mostly dedicated to sound art and exploratory music! Join us at your favourite basement in town for a live sound performance by Fake Music for Travellers, followed by a music live coding session by Gama Reis.

* FAKE MUSIC FOR TRAVELLERS * [live music]

Featuring Rui Veiga and Fernando Chainço, FMFT's mission is to journey through a complex universe of multiple landscapes or a landscape of multiple universes. Influenced by the worlds of Tangerine Dream and Brian Eno, and building upon their collaboration in the experimental music project CACO, they focus on atmospheric environments and heavy yet sensitive textures with cinematic characteristics, using electric guitar and synths for real-time improvisation.

* GAMA REIS* [live coded beats]

Based in Porto, Gama Reis focuses on live coding and the Tidalcycles community, while organising 48-hour live coding marathons on global streams. His method involves combining and recombining dance floor pearls from the last two decades, occasionally reaching further back. Through reverse-engineering harmonic and melodic progressions via intensive listening, he translates them into code for danceable experiments, always guided by a four-on-the-floor beat.

For those wanting to dig deeper into Live Coding, on Saturday the 9th at 3:00 PM, Gama Reis will present a brief talk/workshop about the subject. [ + info below ]

MAR 9 SAT | 3:00 PM LIVE CODING IN MUSIC w/ Gama Reis workshop | talk

Live coding is a performing arts form and a creativity technique centred upon the writing of source code and the use of interactive programming in an improvised way, often used to create sound and image based digital media, as well as light systems, improvised dance and poetry. In an informal setting, Ricardo Lafuente aka Gama Reis will conduct an open afternoon about this recent intersection point between art and technology, briefly introducing to the global live coding scene, sharing some of his techniques and raising awareness and enthusiasm for the field.
