About Cal's work:

How much does it take for a memory to be forgotten? Cais do Ginjal is a retired fishing port on the Tejo river, under the 25 de Abril bridge, the main reason for the town’s abandonment. This work investigates the memory of the area, tracing its past through audio and video elements. The films interview the location physically and socially, through compositions of nature reclaiming the town’s ruins and documentation of its remaining fishermen. The opposing stories reflect on the conflict between man and nature, displaying the process of each. The repetitive and meditative act of fishing emulates the fleeting nature of memories. These tales are installed among multiple screens allowing viewers to interact and respond with the stories individually. In the end it’s all water under the bridge and the cycle of life continues to flow along the river Tejo

About Mara's work:

Future mythologies (the myth became their memory and they still thought they saw it on some late night sitcom). Building new mythologies and forging new collective narratives is a thing to do. That's why I decided not to project every shot and create a strict scenario, but to talk and co-create. With 21 protagonists, we speculate about possible futures, and together we look for hope and resistance in them and in ourselves as a collective body, considering their approaches to ecology, politics, social issues, and the future in general. Fashion aesthetics, which have become the manifesto of the generation, form an inseparable whole with deconstructed stories and metaphors. The project goes beyond the production of visual art. It is a turn towards the creation of collective narratives, an active search for storytelling tools and last but not least, the creation of collectivity.
