FACILITATED BY.../ FACILITADO POR... : Barbara Cowan, founder and Resident at Mount of Oaks since 2006, Educator and Permaculture Designer Practitioner since 2009, Natural Building Teacher and builder since 2015. Barbara is not an expert on Thatch Roofs, but she made one with success that after 9 years needs replacing... There are other longer lasting materials for roofs, but 9 years is not that bad, and the principles are roughly the same... nothing complicated.. this amazing pioneer plant, being so abundant around us, can be so useful... Local shepherds in this region used to make a little A-frame hut (Choça) for them and one for the dogs when they used to spend the summer in the mountains with their herd. Barbara knows the basics for a DiY builder and she has a good experiment that stood the test of time (the small compost toilet roof that needs to be replaced now)... She also had previous failed experiments that taught her a few lessons . Barbara loves empowering others to do it themselves and loves simplifying what for some seems very complicated  She loves using local, natural  and recyclable materials.

A Barbara não é uma profissional em Telhados de Gesta, mas já fez um com sucesso que só agora, após 9 anos, precisa ser renovado... Existem outros materiais mais duradouros como diferentes palhas de cereais, mas 9 anos não é mau resultado e o material cresce à nossa volta sem plantar  Os princípios são semelhantes para quem quiser usar outro material... Os pastores locais, no tempo em que passavam o verão na montanha com os rebanhos, construiam as sua "Choças" com gestas, uma para eles, outra para os cães... A Bárbara tem conhecimentos básicos e resultados positivos  que já passaram a prova do tempo, e outras experiências que não correram tão bem, mas ensinaram muito  A Barbara adora empoderar os outros a fazer por eles mesmos e a simplificar o que muitos acham complicado  Ela adora usar materiais locais, naturais e reciclados..
