The session will focus on the art of speaking in public. Sometimes we get nervous when we have to speak to a room full of people, be it a presentation or a performance. We can end up inhibiting the potential and the power of our voice. To make these sessions more challenging we will be speaking entirely in English. There will be theatre games which focus on relaxation and energy. Exercises which train the muscles used in projection and clarity. We will explore breathing techniques but most importantly we will gain confidence through play and storytelling. Public Speaking in English is designed for people who want to explore their voice and their articulation, with some gentle attention on the English language. However it is not heavily focused on language. The priority is on voice and performance and the confidence to speak in English. The sessions will be led by Tommy Luther who has a TEFL certificate in teaching English and has previously worked for International House (Porto). Tommy trained as an actor at LAMDA in London. This profession has taken him all over the world where he has enjoyed performing in theatre, film, TV, radio, opera, puppetry and storytelling. He continues to work as an actor and director and recently returned to Porto, where he was born.
