Watching Machine (Máquina de ver) era o nome dado, no século XIX, aos objetos que criavam ilusões através de espelhos e persianas. Na peça The Watching Machine, a máquina é a própria caixa de palco. Lá dentro brinca-se com a luz, as sombras e os reflexos para experimentar o que é ilusão, o que é representação e o que é convenção teatral. Uma peça bem engenhosa e surpreendente composta por pequenas instalações onde a luz e as sombras são ficcionadas através de ilusões óticas.

‘Watching Machine’ was the name given, in the 19th century, to objects that created illusions through mirrors and window shutters. In The Watching Machine, the machine is the stage box itself. Inside, you can play with light, shadows, and reflections to experience the meaning of illusion, of acting, and of theatrical convention. A very ingenious and surprising play encompassing a series of small installations where light and shadows are fictionalised through optical illusions.
