According to Pauline Guerrier, embroidery, straw marquetry, tapestry and blown glass are all materials and gestures that allow her to embody her emotions.
Being “on edge”, “having a sore throat” or “a broken heart”, these pictorial expressions exist to illustrate our emotions through forms. A way of making them tangible. Our body is an emotional cartography where links between the simple idea of existing and that of meeting the world and others are interwoven.
Because they escape us, emotions operate as a form of memory of human beings. If humans have constructed myths to translate their emotions and invent themselves through them, Pauline Guerrier questions the relationships between heritage, culture, beliefs, memory and intimacy.
Mythology, charged with motifs and symbols that personify emotion, was one of the sources of reflection for the artist in putting this exhibition together: she saw in metamorphoses a way of questioning how emotions affect and transform bodies.

Para Pauline Guerrier, bordados, marchetaria de palha, tapeçaria e vidro soprado são todos materiais e gestos que lhe permitem dar corpo às suas emoções.
Estando “a flore da pele”, ter “um nó na garganta” ou “um coração partido”, estas expressões pictóricas estão lá para ilustrar as nossas emoções através de formas. Uma forma de as tornar tangíveis. O nosso corpo é uma cartografia emocional onde se tecem as ligações entre o simples facto de existir e o de conhecer o mundo e outros.
Porque elas nos escapam, as emoções funcionam como uma forma de memória da espécie humana. Se os humanos construíram mitos para traduzir as suas emoções e se inventam através delas, Pauline Guerrier questiona estas relações entre herança, cultura, crença, memória e intimidade.
A mitologia, carregada de motivos e símbolos que personificam a emoção, foi uma das fontes de reflexão para a artista na construção desta exposição: ela viu em metamorfoses uma forma de questionar como as emoções afectam e transformam os corpos.
