Weaving Workshop

Come learn to weave! Sunday afternoon, February 5th, 1pm - 7pm!

During the workshop you will learn : 
-about different types of looms, weaving materials, and tools
-how to warp a loom, tension, and techniques for starting a weaving 
-how to work with different yarn thicknesses
-a variety of weaving techniques, appropriate with no previous experience
-how to create fringe and texture
-how to finish and hang your weaving 

Additional skills can be incorporated into the workshop so that you can be successful creating pieces you’re hoping to after the workshop. 

No previous experience necessary. 

Please bring scissors from home to use during the workshop. 
We will use 35 x 40 cm frame looms for the workshop. In the pricing/booking, there is an option to purchase your loom and bring it home with you to continue weaving. 

This afternoon will be cozy and relaxed. You will leave with the knowledge to feel comfortable continuing weaving.

Price: €78 includes all materials needed (just bring your own scissors from home please!) and use of loom for workshop. For €20 extra, you can take your loom home with you to keep weaving — please reserve this ahead of time! Payment is required to complete your booking.

A lifelong artist, with a career in community resource creation, education, entrepreneurship + mentorship, Alisha focuses on combining creative hard skills, practices, and techniques with the soft skills of being human.

She has taught creativity in many forms and mediums in museums, community spaces + studios, hospitals, and NGOs - developing a model of programming and curriculum that allows organizations and spaces to better meet their mission through creativity.

Alisha works with artists to support their self growth and emotional health through their artistic practice, and teaches arts educators how to use creativity to address needs in their neighborhoods and communities.

As a weaver, she uses frame looms of varying sizes and responsibly sourced natural fibers from Portugal or collected from creative reuse centers. We’ll be working with a frame loom and these fibers for the workshop!
