ALBERT CIRERA solo Apresenta "Âmago"
"At the end of November 2020, when almost everything was closed, I had the opportunity to livestream a concert at a church, Igreja do Espírito Santo, in Caldas de Rainha, Portugal, country where I always feel gratefully welcome.
The sound in Igreja do Espírito Santo caught me and I felt in love. I had found the very place to record my second solo album. And so I did in May 2021, named ÂMAGO.
With my soprano sax I seek for an encounter with my admired idols: E. Parker, S. Reich i J.S. Bach. The harmony, the repetition, and the abstract melodic lines weave a hypnotic mantra that takes me to an outer dimension.
With my tenor sax I explore the multiphonic universe, where I search and scout with weird and unconventional finger combinations; my sax reacts and unveils news sounds, hidden within itself. Sounds that transform my instrument into a modular synthesizer, a sort of electronic apparatus.
ÂMAGO are some of those variations. Nonetheless, playing live allows me to work on sound exploration and the constant transformation of the instrument. Other gadgets, like cardboard cups, plastic tubes and coins will be added to produce a sound sculpture of constant transformation.
