Paper Craft Workshop: Tunnel Pop-Up

What is a tunnel pop-up? It’s a beautiful, simple yet very effective way to put together several layers of paper to create an enticing visual.

You can tell a story in just one picture yet you have several frames.

It sounds more daunting than it is, I promise and it’s a lot of fun. It is suitable for all levels, as I’ll show you step by step how to put together these different layers of paper and how to merge them into a tunnel pop-up.

✂︎ I’ll start with a brief intro of the materials and how to use them followed by some examples of possible designs so you have a visual point of reference.

✂︎ You’ll get stuck in and create your own.

✂︎ Show and tell! When we approach the end of the workshop we’ll show our pieces. Don’t be shy to talk about your work and what inspired you.

All materials are provided, just bring your lovely self and have fun. There’ll be a lot of paper cutting and glueing and in the end you’ll walk away with your very own creation of a tunnel pop-up.

Feel free to stay a little longer after the event for a drink, a nerdy chat or just to exchange ideas and socialize. I’m looking forward to seeing you soon!

O que é um pop-up de túnel? É uma forma bonita, simples mas muito eficaz de juntar várias camadas de papel para criar um visual sedutor.

Podes contar uma história em apenas uma imagem, mas tens várias molduras.
Soa mais assustador do que é, prometo e é muito divertido. É adequado para todos os níveis, pois vou mostrar-te passo a passo como juntar estas diferentes camadas de papel e como fundi-las num túnel pop-up.

✂︎ Vou começar com uma breve introdução aos materiais e à forma de os usar, seguida de alguns exemplos de possíveis designs para que tenhas um ponto de referência visual.

✂︎ Vais ficar preso e criar o teu próprio.

✂︎ Show and tell! Quando nos aproximarmos do final do workshop vamos mostrar as nossas peças. Não tenhas vergonha de falar sobre o teu trabalho e sobre o que te inspirou.

Todos os materiais são fornecidos, apenas traz o teu adorável eu e diverte-te. Vai haver muito corte de papel e cola e no final vais-te embora com a tua própria criação de um túnel pop-up.

Sente-te à vontade para ficar um pouco mais depois do evento para uma bebida, uma conversa de nerds ou apenas para trocar ideias e socializar. Estou à espera de te ver em breve!

Gabriela é uma ilustradora e engenheira de papel austríaca. Ela gosta de fundir as suas ilustrações 2D com esculturas 3D sob a forma de pop-ups, que se tornaram uma parte dominante do seu trabalho enquanto estuda ilustração na Universidade do Oeste de Inglaterra, Bristol. Criou 1 livro pop-up para uma comissão privada e foi a engenheira de papel para um segundo livro que foi publicado via Kickstarter (The Pop-Up Bible Volume 1: The Beginning). A sua arte actual centra-se principalmente no esboço urbano que reflecte o seu amor pela arquitectura com o ocasional pop-up para o seu novo projecto 'Urban Sketching 3D'.

Gabriela is an Austrian illustrator and paper engineer. She enjoys merging her 2D illustrations with 3D sculptures in the form of pop-ups, which became a dominant part of her work while studying illustration at the University of the West of England, Bristol. She created 1 pop-up book for a private commission and was the paper engineer for a second one that got published via Kickstarter (The Pop-Up Bible Volume 1: The Beginning). Her current art focuses mostly around urban sketching which reflects her love for architecture with the occasional pop-up for her new project 'Urban Sketching 3D'.
