Cafe Scientifique - ANSWER Project [in english]

Join us for a discussion about wastewater reuse and its evermore increasing importance in dealing with water scarcity. As Early Stage Researchers (ESRs) of the ANSWER project we deal with risk associated with reusing wastewater, specifically risk dealing with antibiotic resistance. 

We’ll discuss about treatment technologies, conventional and new, and their effect on the removal of pharmaceutical compounds and especially antibiotics (A), including their transformation products (TPs), and antibiotic resistant bacteria (ARB) and antibiotic resistant genes (ARGs). We’ll also discuss agricultural irrigation using treated wastewater and the risk of A&ARB&ARGs spread to the environment and food chains. Finally we’ll talk about the role innovative technologies, monitoring and management have in minimising these risks in wastewater reuse applications.
