We're back with a brand new tour! A few months ago, we set off from Antas to explore the unsung city locations of Contumil and Areosa. However, this time around we will truly be delving into the area. We will step from Paranhos into the northernmost bit of Bonfim to explore what once was one of the poshest boroughs of the city, and it still largely is irrespective of the mix-use we find these days. Antas, with its own church, parks, restaurants, cafés and sports venues. It's even a centrality unto itself you may say. From residential villas in the 1930s to a location of experimentation with new architecture models in the 1960s, (leaving us with the most prominent residential building in Porto), Antas always portrayed its own personality within the city fabric, coexisting with older, humbler neighbourhoods, as we get a foot in Campanhã. We will also explore the relationship between Diego Velasquez and Porto, how Robert Auzelle imagined the city in the year 2000 and what legacy we have of that vision!
