WEBINAR GRATUITO // FREE WEBINAR DIRIGIDO POR JORGE LEAL INSCRIÇÕES ATRAVÉS DO ENDEREÇO www.supersonic.pt/webinar-jorge-leal OU EMAIL: SUPERSONIC at ATELIERCONCORDE. org A partir da minha experiência pessoal, como artista visual frequentador de residências artísticas e da minha investigação sobre a história, tipologias e práticas dessas instituições, irei explorar o conceito de Residência Artística a partir da dicotomia entre um projeto desenvolvido a partir do lugar (assente na recolha da sua informação visual, material e documental) e um projeto preexistente deslocado para um lugar e aí executado. Será abordada a ideia de open-endedness para pensar sobre a possibilidade de não conclusão do projeto durante a residência. Este ponto é particularmente importante na avaliação da utilidade do tempo em residência, na relevância do caráter exploratório e inacabado do trabalho produzido por permitir a possibilidade de desenvolvimentos futuros. A partir das tipologias de residências artísticas (históricas, institucionais e informais), irei contrastar o modo como os artistas se relacionaram e relacionam com esses modelos e de que modo um projeto de residência artística autogerido pode encontrar utilidade fora das ofertas propostas pelo ecossistema das artes. SOBRE JORGE LEAL Jorge Leal (1975) nasceu em Lisboa, onde vive e trabalha. Licenciou-se emArquitetura na Universidade de Coimbra, em 2000. Entre 2002 e 2004 realizouestudos de pintura e desenho no Ar.Co. em Lisboa. Em 2017 concluiu odoutoramento em desenho com o título “Da Presença do Desenho na Pintura: ALinha Transformadora”, na Faculdade de Belas Artes, da Universidade de Lisboa. O seu trabalho está representado na coleção do MAAT,Fernando Figueiredo Ribeiro e coleções privadas (Portugal, Espanha, França,Bélgica, Inglaterra, Alemanha). Desde 2012, o seu trabalho está centrado nainvestigação prática e teórica sobre desenho, onde procura interrogar os seuselementos constituintes, assim como a integração da escrita no desenho. // // // REGISTRATIONS AT https://www.supersonic.pt/en/webinar-jorge-leal Note: This workshop will be lectured in Portuguese Departing from my personal experience as a visual artist and frequent attendee of art residencies, and my own research work about the history, models, and practices within these institutions, I’ll explore different concepts of arts residencies concerning the dichotomy between a site orientated project development (assembling visual, material and documental elements) and a pre-existing project moved to a place and executed there. The idea of open-endedness will be addressed to think about the possibility of non-completion of the project during the residency. This is a key issue for assessing time management during the residency, and the usefulness of creating experimental and unfinished work, allowing the possibility for future development. Using different art residency programs (historical, institutional, and informal), I’ll compare how artists related to and are relating with those different programs, and how to take advantage of a self-managed artist residency project, away from proposals within the arts ecosystem. ABOUT JORGE LEAL Jorge Leal (1975) is a Lisbon based artist, from Lisbon. In 2000, he graduated in Architecture from the University of Coimbra (Portugal). Between 2002 and 2004 studied Drawing and Painting at Ar.Co. School of Arts (Portugal), and in 2017 completed his drawing PhD entitled “Traces of drawing in painting: the transformative line” in the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon. His work is part of the MAAT art collection, Fernando Figueiredo Ribeiro collection, and other private art collections in Portugal, Spain, France, Belgium, England, and Germany. Since 2012, his work focuses on a practical and theoretical research approach to drawing, questioning its elements, as well as the integration of writing in drawings.
