O BEAST IFF volta a fazer luz sobre a paisagem cinematográfica da Europa de Leste. Pelos Balcãs, Bálticos, pelo pós-comunismo, o BEAST abriu a janela para 21 países, representando-os de forma única com foco nos novos trabalhos, novos talentos e apresentando as novas cara do Novo Leste.

Para estes dias de confinamento, o BEAST IFF preparou duas sessões de filmes online para que todos possam desfrutar em segurança e em suas casas. As sessões fazem parte dum warm-up para a 4ª edição do BEAST IFF que acontecerá entre os dias 24 e 28 de março de 2021, com o Focus Country - Roménia. Na primeira sessão é dado a conhecer ao público uma realização da Bulgária e na segunda, da Rússia.

A documentarista Valentina Gordeeva conta a história da sua mãe Lubov, a sua nova casa de verão e tudo o que lhe acontece na vida. Lubov trabalhou numa fábrica de alumínio toda a sua vida. Passou de operária para a gerência e agora está prestes a se reformar, pois os novos gerentes da fábrica querem se livrar dos funcionários mais velhos. Em preparação para a reforma e a miséria da pensão como resultado inevitável, Lubov comprou uma antiga casa de verão com um jardim anexo, onde vai cultivar seus próprios vegetais.

BEAST IFF is shining a light over the East European cinema landscape. Balkans, Baltics or Post-Communism, BEAST opened a cultural umbrella covering 21 countries, with an unique representation focusing on new works, new talents presenting the new faces of the New East.

For these days of confinement, BEAST IFF has prepared two online film sessions for everyone to enjoy safely and at home. The sessions are part of a warm-up for the 4th edition of BEAST IFF that will take place between the 24th and 28th of March 2021, with Focus Country - Romania.

In the first session, a performance from Russia is presented to the public and in the second, from Bulgaria.

In "My mom, her summerhouse and other stuff”, documentary filmmaker Valentina Gordeeva tells the story of her mother Lubov, her mom’s new summerhouse, and everything that happens in Lubov's life. Lubov has been working at an aluminum factory all her life. She made her way from a factory worker to the management and now she is facing retirement, as the new factory managers want to get rid of the aged staff. In preparation for the retirement and pension misery as an inevitable result, Lubov bought an old summerhouse with a garden attached to it, where she's planning to grow her own vegetables.
