Well-Being Serpentine Dance

Well-Being Serpentine Dance

Well-Being Serpentine Dance
with Gabriela Santiago

Well Being Serpentine Dance is a mix of several movements from the Middle East, North Africa, Hellenic, Turkish (MENAHT) & Far East Dances, fused with American Cabaret, Tribal & Fusion modern techniques and stylizations, among others, that have been influencing my own approach for 13 years of studies.

These fusion is a beautiful, emotional, sensual (not sexual, as sometimes portrayed), and captivating high art form. Unlike most western dance forms, the movement in these dances are more internally focused and require targeted muscle control.

Some of the MENAHT & Far East dance forms date from the matriarchal period, between 7.000 and 5.000 BC, and were practiced originally by women of Asia and Africa as a sacred ritual to Mother Goddess.

Testimonials

“It makes me feel great. It makes me move beautiful. It makes me enjoy my reflection in the mirror. I admire Gabriela’s serious but heartfelt approach to the art of dance. I am so happy I found her online classes. We dance together for 9 months already. She is a brilliant dancer and inspiring teacher.” Aleksandra S., Latvia

“These dance classes are really enjoyable, friendly and engaging. I’ve found the movements really help ease muscle tension in my shoulders and neck, as well as boosting my confidence too. There’s nothing like dancing for beating the lockdown blues!” Elizabeth C., United Kingdom

“These classes have been such an enriching experience and I truly look forward to it every week!
Like all great teachers, Gabriela is passionate about what she does and the class is fun and motivating.
For me, this style is ideal because while learning new dance moves, I am also doing exercise and listening to wonderful music.
These dances made me experience my body in a new way as there are an infinite amount of movements. And it is not just about the belly and hips - we work a lot on hand and arm movements, the neck and shoulders, the chest and of course our steps.
Besides learning new ways in which to move, another long-lasting effect is that it is great for posture and helps develop formerly unused muscles but also does the trick of unblocking and loosening up others.
I always leave the class energized and refreshed.”
