BoCA Summer School 2020 [PT] Í Performance 4 — 6 SET 2020, MAAT - Museu de Arte, Arquitetura e Tecnologia “ ̧̃ ” A prática da artista espanhola Dora García baseia-se na interatividade e na performance, utilizando o espaço expositivo como uma plataforma para investigar a relação entre arte, público e lugar, onde explora a relação realidade versus ficção. O workshop inspira-se no texto “A Invenção de Morel” do escritor argentino Adolfo Bioy Casares, que combina e questiona o medo da morte e o desejo de vida eterna e de amor, sendo propostas novas maneiras de abordá-los. Como reagir a um sistema de realidade do qual não fazemos parte? O sentimento de estranhamento está a aumentar, a distância está a aumentar, e é cada vez mais difícil encontrar pontos de ancoragem em um sistema que repete os mesmos erros repetidamente, ignorando a nossa necessidade de negociar uma realidade comum que funcione para todos. Dora García nasce em Valladolid, em 1965. Em 1988 licencia-se em Belas Artes na Universidade de Salamanca. Nesse mesmo ano participa na Muestra de Arte Joven, no Círculo de Bellas Artes de Madrid. Em 1989 ganha um bolsa Nuffic que lhe permite estudar entre 1989 e 1991 na Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten de Amsterdão. A prática da artista espanhola baseia-se na interatividade e na performance, utilizando o espaço expositivo como uma plataforma para investigar a relação entre arte, público e lugar, onde explora a relação realidade versus ficção. Os seus trabalhos de marcado carácter conceptual emprega distintos médium como performance, fotografia, instalação, desenho, vídeo, som criando situações ou contextos que alteram a relação tradicional entre artista, obra e espectador. Expôs as sus obras de forma individual em algumas das principais instituições internacionais de arte contemporânea. Também participou em distintos eventos internacionais: Manifesta 2 (1998), 8ª Bienal de Istambul (2003), 16ª Bienal de Sydney (2008), 10ª Bienal de Lyon (2009), Gwangju Biennial (2010), 29ª Bienal de São Paulo (2010), 54ª Bienal de Veneza (representante de Espanha), (d)OCUMENTA 13 de Kassel (2012) e a 56ª edição de la Bienal de Veneza (2015). The workshop is inspired by the text “The Invention of Morel” by Argentine writer Adolfo Bioy Casares, which combines and questions the fear of death and the desire for eternal life and love, and new ways of approaching them are proposed. How to react to a system of reality that we are not part of? The feeling of strangeness is increasing, the distance is increasing, and it is increasingly difficult to find anchor points in a system that repeats the same mistakes over and over, ignoring our need to negotiate a common reality that works for everyone. Dora García was born in Valladolid, in 1965. In 1988 she graduated in Fine Arts at the University of Salamanca. That same year he participated in the Muestra de Arte Joven, at the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid. In 1989 he won a Nuffic scholarship that allowed him to study between 1989 and 1991 at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam.
