Discussing the Night-time city

O lazer noturno tem vindo, crescentemente, a ganhar um papel central na afirmação económica e cultural e na transformação urbanística e social das cidades globais. É também um espaço-tempo hedonista e central nos estilos de vida, padrões de consumo individual e grupal e nas afirmações identitárias pós-modernas. Por esse motivo, o lazer noturno reúne um conjunto de benefícios tangíveis e intangíveis que tornam a noite  fundamental para a vitalidade das cidades e estilos de vida contemporâneos. No entanto, à noite, emergem alguns riscos específicos e reproduzem-se formas de inclusão e exclusão que importa considerar. 
Neste evento propomos duas Talks que pretendem abordar as ambivalências associadas ao lazer noturno: prazer vs. riscos; desviância vs. normalização; transgressão vs. controlo; modernização vs. exclusão social; alternativa vs. reprodução de normas sociais hegemónicas.

Nightlife has a, growingly, central role in the economic and cultural affirmation and in the urbanistic and social transformation of global cities. It´s also a space-time hedonistic and central in the lifestyle, individual and group consumption patterns and post-modern identities. Considering this, nightlife is related with several tangible and intangible benefits that make night central to guarantee the vitality of contemporaneous cities and lifestyles. However, nightlife is also related with specific risks and with the reproduction of inclusion and exclusion norms and practices.  
In this event we will promote two Talks to discuss the ambivalences of nightlife: pleasure vs. risks; deviance vs. normalization, transgression vs. control; modernization vs. Social exclusion; alternative vs. reproduction of hegemonic social norms.
