Sânscrito e a cultura indiana 

O sânscrito é a língua-mãe das várias línguas do subcontinente indiano e também é uma das línguas da referência linguística no contexto indo-europeu.
Quando falamos da Índia moderna ou histórica logo pensamos na imagem da diversidade a todos os níveis e como se vive com tanta diversidade e como é que todas as diversidades coexistem e fortalecem a democracia?
Nesta apresentação procura-se falar das relações indo-europeias e a importância do sânscrito nos dias de hoje tanto na Índia como no mundo todo.

Biografia de Shiv Kumar Singh

Prof. Shiv Kumar Singh has been working as a lecturer of Indian Studies and Hindi at Faculdade de Letras, University of Lisbon, Portugal since 2009. He was awarded prestigious Camões scholarship of Govt. of Portugal to study Portuguese Language and Cultures in Portugal. He holds a C2 certificate as per CEFR in Portuguese language.
 
The Famous Portuguese Author Gonçalo M. Tavares' book "Os Velhos Também Querem Viver" was translated into Hindi by him that was inaugurated in Jaipur Literary Festival by Mr. Gonçalo Tavares himself. The first ever translation of Eidgah of Premchand in Portuguese has been submitted to be Published by the Center for Comparative Studies of the University of Lisbon under the ambit of World Literature Volume III. This is the first ever translation work in Portugal on Premchand. In 2018,
with the support of ICCR and Embassy of India in Lisbon, he launched first Portuguese-Hindi-Portuguese dictionary in book format as well as in online version. He has been teaching Indian literatures, such as Ramayana, Mahabharata, Sangam, Panchtantra and Jatakas in the course of Indian Cultures at FLUL under the ambit of Indian Studies program. He is planning to translate Godan of Premchand into Portuguese and Portuguese Epic Os Luisiadas in Hindi. He has been conducting courses, workshops, lectures on the topics related to Indian Studies all over Portugal.
He has already taught four courses on Contemporary Indian Culture and Society at Orient Foundation Museum and Sanskrit at Faculdade de Letras, University of Porto (FLUP) and at Lusophone University in Lisbon. In various renowned Indian Universities, he has taught Portuguese language and Cultures. His last lecture was in University of Delhi on Indo-European relations through Portuguese and Hindi. There are already
various academic and newspaper articles published by him on Hindi, Indian Cultures and Politics. He has written some plays in Hindi on Portuguese and Indian themes and got them performed in Hindi by the students of Hindi at Faculdade de Letras, University of Lisbon.

He organized first ever International Hindi Conference in Portugal in collaboration with Ministry of External Affairs of Govt. of India and the Embassy of India in Lisbon. He has been frequently invited to various academic institutions, schools and think-tanks, as well as on RTP, Portuguese National Channel, to speak on India, India-Portugal Relations, Indian Cultures, Politics and Religions. He is an Associate Editor of the magazine Yoga Dharma – Revista de Estudos sobre o Yoga Antigo e Moderno, ISSN 2184-4429 https://yoga-dharma.org/. Currently he is Director of the Center for Indian Studies-FLUL and President of Casa-da-Índia (Bharat Bhavan – House of India), a non-profitable, non-religious and non-partisan NGO.
