WASTED RITA And now for something completely different: a show that features at least one female artist - exposição individual 18 de Outubro – 16 de Novembro 2019 Partindo de um título que, de forma intencional e imediata, imprime um tom provocatório a esta exposição, Wasted Rita convida-nos uma vez mais a entrar numa encenação com contornos performáticos a qual serve de veículo para partilhar connosco uma leitura crítica – com a habitual frontalidade mordaz e poética que caracteriza o seu discurso – de vários domínios da cultura popular contemporânea – em particular da televisão, da internet e outros média visuais – que costumam captar a sua atenção no seu dia-a-dia. Inspirando-se no buraco negro de procrastinação em que costuma cair quando se deixa prender por conteúdos de entretenimento fáceis e ligeiros – mas inteligentemente concebidos para seduzirem e capturarem vastas audiências –, a artista recorre a vários destes formatos e reinterpreta-os de modo a materializar mais um capítulo da narrativa intimista que tem vindo a desenvolver no decurso de uma prática que transcende o espaço expositivo e esbate as fronteiras entre a vida e a arte. Inspired by the black hole of procrastination into which she usually falls when she lets herself be captured by easy and light entertainment contents – yet intelligently conceived to seduce and capture wide audiences –, the artist resorts to various of these formats and reinterprets them in order to materialise another chapter of the intimate narrative she has been developing in the course of a practice that transcends the exhibition space and blurs the boundaries between life and art.
