What is easily appreciated here is the juxtaposition of buoyant playing with shockingly dark lyrics, as one hears on “American Queen” (“Here I am with the razor blade/ too good for my body”) and “Clover Color Blooms” (“Love will bring you laughter/then hang you from the rafter”). The songs are delivered with a sense of hopelessness that conveys early adulthood depression with the reality of life through the passionate vocals of Sean Cahill, who channels the best of Elliot Smith on “Mental Highway” and “Blue”, a song in which Cahill laments, “Nobody’s on my side”."

The Brothers Landau is a classically trained cello/guitar/2 voices duo who compose and perform a charmingly eclectic mix of styles ranging from classical to hip hop and rock to folk. The Brothers’ music showcases the developing world of Americana and folk, blending traditional sounds and arrangements mixed with a plethora of modern styles. In their songs you can hear influences of Bossa Nova, R&B, classical, jazz, soul, rock, and more. Immediately accessible to everyone without being condescending to the discerning listener, the Brothers consistently utilize dynamics, counterpoint, and catchy melodies to entertain, enthuse, and infuse audiences with an optimistic and soothingly familiar energy, much like being with good friends after a lousy week. David’s cello relates sounds from deep within, ranging from strong and soulful to sweetly melancholic, while Daniel’s guitar provides rhythmic progressions and chords alternately complementary and conflicting, and William's drums provide an animated and melodic backbeat, all as the Brothers’ voices bring everything into one unique sonic experience.The Brothers Landau toured Europe in 2018 and plan to tour overseas again in 2019 in support of their upcoming EP "Haven't Got a Name."
