Night Shades are a London-based garage punk/rock & roll band, formed in late 2014 when guitarists/singers Shaun Blackwell and Clare McNamara arrived in London from Wellington, New Zealand and met drummer Niall Kavanagh.
They began by honing a sound darkly atmospheric, romantic and inescapably haunting while at the same time twisted and eternally thrashy with a staunch garage punk energy. After six months of crafting, Night Shades began playing around London alongside the likes of Cosmonauts (US), La Luz (US), Guantanamo Baywatch (US), L.A. Witch (US), Froth (US), Entrance Band (US), YAK (UK), The Parrots (ES), Feels (US), The Coathangers (US), Crows (UK), Skinny Girl Diet (UK), Dan Sartain (US) & Tijuana Panthers (US), with an upcoming support slot for The Gories (US) in July 2017.
In late 2015 they self-released a 2-Track Cassette - London Falling / Morticia - independently recorded and engineered in an empty bar and their bedrooms.
Following the release of the 2-Track Cassette, Night Shades began work on their latest ep in mid 2016, which was recorded and engineered in a similar vein. The release date for this will be Halloween 2017.
