Fotógrafa e artista visual, Pauliana tem vindo a criar imagens desde 1999 para revistas, reportagens e exposições individuais por várias partes do mundo. Desde 2012 que dedica particular atenção aos jovens. Dos Açores, a Cabo Verde, de Atenas ao Algarve, a artista tem vindo a documentar as histórias de uma nova geração, resumindo, em retratos, a forma como olham o mundo, os territórios por onde se movem, a abertura e a liberdade que têm em face ao que os rodeia. “Fui convidada para fazer uma residência artística no ´Maus Hábitos´ e foi este, o local de partida para chegar a jovens frequentadores desta casa, tão emblemática da cena artística contemporânea do Porto. Dei por mim a encontrar jovens de visual sedutor e foi através do Instagram, ferramenta que usam para se mostrarem e comunicarem entre si, que cheguei até eles. Mas foi a partir da sua intimidade e dos locais onde vivem que os retratei, um retrato intimista que vai para além da pose. Deparei-me com jovens seguros de si, sem medo de mostrarem o que são e com mentes de vanguarda, que ultrapassam as questões de género e que vão para além do binário, recusando os estereótipos que a sociedade lhes quer impor. Para eles a discriminação racial não faz sentido e têm uma grande preocupação social, ecológica e até mesmo política. "I was invited to do an artistic residency at ‘Maus Hábitos’ and this was the starting point to meet young guests of this house, that is so emblematic of the contemporary art scene of Porto. I found myself discovering young people with a seductive look and it was through Instagram, a tool they use to show themselves and communicate with each other, that I reached them. But it was from their intimacy and the places where they live that I portrayed them, an intimate portrait that goes beyond the pose. I came across self-confident young people, not afraid to show what they are and with vanguard minds, who go beyond gender issues and go beyond the binary, rejecting the stereotypes that society wants to impose on them. For them racial discrimination does not make sense and have a great social, ecological and even political concern.
