Artes Bélicas - Ordens Militares Religiosas

As ordens militares religiosas fazem parte integrante quer da história nacional quer do imaginário de grande parte do público, este programa visa promover o conhecimento mais aprofundado das mesmas, desmistificando a sua história ao mesmo tempo que mostra de forma historicamente correta os vários tipos de “uniformes”, armaduras e formas de combate.
Para isso, achamos melhor dividir este programa em quatro acompanhando o nascimento, evolução e por vezes extinção de algumas das mais importantes ordens militares religiosas em Portugal: 

Ordem do Hospital – Séc. XII a Séc. XV/XVI 
Ordem do Templo – Séc. XII a Séc. XIV 
Ordem de Avis – Séc. XIII (?) a Séc. XVI 
Ordem de Cristo – Séc. XIV a Séc. XVI 

Os programas serão divididos cronologicamente do séc. XII ao séc. XVI abordando a evolução das ordens e do seu papel na nacionalidade.

Religious military orders are an integral part of both national history and the collective imagination of a large part of the public. This programme aims to promote a deeper knowledge of these orders, demystifying their history at the same time as accurately revealing the various types of “uniforms", armour and forms of combat they used.

Therefore we’ve decided to divide this programme into four, following the birth, development and sometimes the extinction of some of the most important military religious orders in Portugal:

Order of the Hospital – 12th to 15th/16th centuries
Knights Templar – 12th to 14th centuries
Order of Aviz – 13th(?) to 16th centuries 
Order of Christ – 14th to 16th centuries

The programmes will be divided chronologically from the 12th to the 16th centuries, covering the development of the order and their role in Portuguese nationality.
