Andre Carneiro was born on the 22nd of October 1992, in Oporto, Portugal. He is a pop singer and songwriter, having absorbed special influence from folk. It was at the age of 16 that his passion for music blossomed. André had never had music lessons, becoming a self-taught. At the age of 19, he started learning how to play the acoustic guitar, looking for instructions here and there, in an era whereby digital technology allows a faster access to information. Despite his shyness, André took the decision of making the streets his own stage, which later turned out to be his main livelihood, combined with the direct promotion of his work. In 2014, André took a risk on a different context. He applied for a conquest on the state’s television station’s (RTP1) The Voice Portugal, progressing until the tira-teimas round. He effortlessly realized it was not the right path for his professional career, admitting the importance of taking a risk and the professional maturity that this experience provided him. The voice has now changed. More mature and refined. His personal style is mainly influenced by folk, having become more experimental. The most influential artists are Foy Vance, Glen Hansard, Chris Stapleton, Damien Rice and Passenger. Although he has already edited some of his works, as André Carneiro, it is at this very moment that he makes the leap to - and with - The Other Side, signing the EP under the alias Aries.
