The work of the Portuguese plastic artist Maria de Brito Matias is a fun house mirror view of contemporary society. It reflects daily situations, exaggerating and hiding, deforming and thus enhancing the aspects important to the author. Drag has also became a source of inspiration due to the same factor of reflection and distortion of pop culture and women, in addition to the idea of the mask that also meets the themes her work is based on.
About the Artist:
Lisbon, 1996. Based in Lisbon. Completed in 2018 the degree in Painting from FBAUL. Erasmus + mobility in Perugia, Italy, 2017/2018. The artist participated in several exhibitions in venues such as Casa das Histórias Paula Rego, Centro Cultural de Cascais and Fine-Arts Faculty of Lisbon.
