Nasceu em França mas foi para o Equador com apenas três anos. Seria aí, a beber de todas as influências musicais, que se tornou um mago de ritmo. Foi percussionista, saltou para a música electrónica como forma maior de expressão e de aproximar mundos – os da música de raiz Sul-Americana com os sintetizadores e caixas de ritmos que nos são familiares. O que é orgânico tem de vir de forma natural, diz. E isso, isso é-lhe inato. Esta apresentação em formato live-act, é parte da turné mundial para o seu novo álbum Siku, onde até colaborou com um português: o percussionista Márcio Pinto. Em Siku, Nicola Cruz expande horizontes e quer desprender-se de qualquer estereótipo que possa haver sobre a música do Equador. Tudo funciona numa grande amálgama de sons, que vamos poder testemunhar ao vivo nesta noite no Lux. Quem manda é o Switchdance.

He was born in France, but went to Ecuador at just three years old. It would be there, drinking from all the diverse musical influences, that he’d become this mage of rhythm. He was a percussionist, and jumped into electronic music s a way to express something bigger and bring together two worlds – those of of the South American music and the synthesizers and drum machines we’re familiar with. What is organic must come natural to you, he says. And oh, that’s something innate for him. This presentation in the live-act format is a part of the world tour for his new album Siku, where he even collaborated with Portuguese percussionist Márcio Pinto. In Siku, Nicola Cruz expands horizons and aims to shed any stereotypes about Ecuadorian music. It’ll all work in a great amalgamation of sounds, that we’ll be able to experience live this night at Lux.
