“Silent connection”

O termo “silent connection” surgiu-me após um dia passado fotografar na rua. Reflectindo a minha
relação com aquilo que fotografo, como acção de congelar fragmentos da realidade, penso que,
subjectivamente falando, existe como que uma barreira entre mim e aquilo que fotografo, especialmente pessoas ou acções, barreira esta, feita de vidro, película ou o sensor da câmera onde a imagem se fixa.
Tentando definir o que é essa ideia de barreira, percebi que não é efectivamente uma barreira mas sim uma ligação, sendo ela silenciosa. Acho que não há nada mais silencioso que uma imagem para quem a faz, sendo que ela pode falar ou até gritar para quem a vê. Este título tem então a ver com uma reflexão sobre o meu processo de trabalho, postura minha, totalmente subjectiva. 
Nesta exposição apresento uma série de imagens que penso ser representativas do que tenho vindo a fazer e o que procuro em termos fotográficos. Ela gira a volta do que podemos chamar “street photography”, onde eu retiro da rua, usando a memória e a imaginação, narrativas que se tornam pessoais, através das pessoas que habitam a cidade e a arquitectura que a caracteriza. 
Todas as fotografias que apresento na exposição
foram captadas maioritariamente na cidade do Porto, Lisboa, e Coimbra.

The term “Silent Connection” came to me, after a day spent on the street photographing. I was
reflecting about my relationship with “the things” and reality itself, and I realize that exist like a barrier between myself and what I shoot, like people or actions, barrier made by glass, or film, or a sensor of a camera where the image is fixed.
Trying to understand this idea of barrier, I realize there was no barrier and instead there was a
connection, a silent one. I think there is nothing more silent than an image for the person that made it, a part of the fact that the image can speak for those who saw it. This thought is related with my process of work, my position inside photography, and is completely subjective. 
In this exhibition i present series of images that I think be representative of what I’m trying to explore in photography. They are about what usually is called “street photography”, where i capture from the street, using my memory and imagination, personal narratives through the people that live in the city, or just passing by, and the architecture that characterize it. All the images where taken in majority Porto, Lisbon and Coimbra.
