Na última quarta-feira de cada mês, a tela dos Maus Hábitos exibe ciclos temáticos nos quais o denominador comum é serem filmes realizados por mulheres. O objetivo é dar visibilidade ao trabalho da mulher no cinema, através da projeção das suas obras e, sempre que possível, da sua presença nas sessões, promovendo o encontro entre o público e as autoras.

Iniciamos o novo ano com uma seleção de filmes que fizeram parte da Competição Internacional da primeira edição do Porto Femme, anunciando oficialmente as novas datas da segunda edição do festival.
Uma seleção que nos chega dos EUA, Dinamarca, China e Brasil, com curadoria da direção do Festival. 


A NOIVA DE FRANKIE

Pernille está grávida e cheia de felizes expectativas pela sua vida como mãe- Mas quando o seu filho chega o seu mundo é virado do avesso. O idílico sonho da maternidade é quebrado e trocado pela realidade de um bebé que chora. Ela procura apoio num grupo de mães muito mais experientes, que tentam ajudar Pernille da melhor forma de podem. Mas como pode alguém tornar-se numa grande mãe?

Tia Ciata é um documentário que aborda o protagonismo feminino negro sob a ótica da personagem popular Tia Ciata, uma mulher de suma importância para a história e cultura brasileira, referência na construção da identidade nacional. O filme traz depoimentos de mulheres negras que são referências na luta contra o racismo e pela visibilidade do protagonismo feminino negro em diferentes áreas de atação. São elas: a escritora Conceição Evaristo, a filósofa e escritora Helena Theodoro, a historiadora Giovana Xavier, a pesquisadora de cinema negro brasileiro Janaina Oliveira, a atriz Angela Peres, as cantoras Marina Íris e Nina Rosa, a bisneta de Tia Ciata Gracy Mary e Ialorixá Mãe Beata de Iemanjá, que faleceu recentemente deixando um legado de luta pela igualdade de direitos para o povo negro e sempre será referência de força ancestral e resistência, inspirando gerações.

On the last Wednesday of each month, Maus Hábitos will screen thematic cinema cycles in which the common denominator is films directed by women.
The objective is to give visibility to the work of women in the cinema, through the projection of their works and, whenever possible, their presence in the sessions, promoting the encounter between the public and the authors.

We began a new year with a selection of films that were part of the International Competition of the first edition of Porto Femme, officially announcing the new dates of the second edition of the film festival.
A selection that reaches us from the USA, Denmark, China and Brazil, curated by the Festival’s direction.

A hybrid short film about motherhood based on real experiences - with one actress and a group of real mothers playing themselves within a fictive storyline. Pernille is pregnant and filled with joyful expectations to her new life as a mother. But when her son arrives her world is turned upside-down. The idyllic dream of motherhood is shattered and replaced by the reality of a crying baby. She seeks support and comfort from a group of far more experienced mothers, whom tries to help Pernille the best way they can. But how can one become a great mother?

Synopsis:
Tia Ciata is a documentary that focuses on black female protagonism from the perspective of the popular character Tia Ciata, a woman of great importance for Brazilian history and culture, a reference in the construction of the national identity. The film brings testimonies of black women who are references in the Fight against racism and the visibility of black female protagonism in different areas of action. They are:
